The main focus of our teaching is English Language and communication.
Our classes are around 25 students in each class, allowing the girls to work in a collaborative, fun and interactive environment.
We run on a ten week term basis, running lessons for 30 weeks out of the year.
At the request of our students, we are currently looking for ways to accredit our programme.
Our end goal is for as many of our students as possible to gain an IELTS qualification (or equivalent).
A key tenant of our mission is secure and professional employment opportunities for Afghans living in the UK.
95% of our tutors are Afghans now settled in the UK. Many were employed as English teachers in Afghanistan before they were evacuated out of Kabul in 2021.
Rameez has been teaching English for over 10 years. Having a wide variety of teaching posts, he is well prepared to teach our intermediate classes. He was been a Senior English Instructor for the Albadr English Language Centre, an English Lecturer at Kabul University, delivered English training to university lectures and was a Master trainer for the British Council. Rameez has delivered English sessions to a wide variety of levels from complete beginners to advance level speakers. During his time at the British council, Rameez not only taught members of higher education but took a standing roll in delivering the British Councils very successful English Doctor sessions. Rameez is a vibrant and exciting teacher, who keeps every student in his class well engaged.
Naeem has a well-rounded experience in teaching English to women and girls in Afghanistan. Naeem is taking our adults intermediate, night classes. Naeem worked for the British council in Afghanistan, helping to train the military, members of government and students in higher education. Naeem helped hundreds of people through his time at the British Council, preparing and delivering over 400+ lessons in his time there. He helped people to confidently overcome the challenges of learning another language and has helped them to progress into further roles. Naeem in an inspiring and aspirational teacher that wants each one of his students to achieve their full potential. He challenges the minds of his students, helping them to broaden horizons. Naeem is a strong, academic and enthusiastic teacher who has brought determination and inspiration to the Afghan College for Girls.
Armin did an impressive teaching stunt with the British Council’s operations in Afghanistan. In three years, Armin planned and prepared over 300+ language lessons, teaching English to teens and adults. Armin also is a qualified teacher so has extensive experience in planning and preparing engaging and interesting lessons. Armin has a love for education and teaching, something he has left behind after the new Taliban rule took over in Afghanistan. Armin moved to the UK on the advice of the British Council and is now indefinitely based here in the UK. His contribution and experience with education within Afghanistan makes him an asset to the Afghan College for Girls. His teaching is diverse, engaging and well adapted for those girls who are just starting out in their English language classes.
Edrees’s teaching career started off with the NTM-A ELTProject where he taught English and was a site supervisor for the delivery of lessons. Edrees has also taught with the Afghan National Association for Adult Education, the US Embassy ELCLC project, was a senior teacher/teacher Trainer for the British Council in Afghanistan. After becoming a senior teacher for the British Council Edrees then went onto become a Learning Centre Coordinator and IELTS trainer. During his time in this role he helps students prepare for scholarships for the UK and Australia. As well as preparing exam papers and regular testing for those students under his core. He now lives in England having been evacuated out of Afghanistan as the Taliban took over.
Mariam grew up and studied in Kabul and has a track record helping and supporting women and children in Afghanistan. Mariam has worked with the 10,000 women programmes alongside the American University of Afghanistan and the Afghanistan Ministry of Education to start a scholarship scheme for women. Now living in Canada, Marian is the CEO and Founder of the charity Her Afghanistan which allows professionals around the world to support Afghan women in the field of security, peace, foreign policy, education and tech. Mariam also worked as a volunteer teacher with W.O.M.E.N in Afghanistan and brings this teaching experience to our Afghan College for Girls.
Florence is a fantastic teacher who is taking our Intermediate 1 and 2 as well as Advanced 1 class. Florence has a wealth of experience when it comes to Teaching English as a Second Language. Having started out her teaching career in a similar project to the Afghan College for Girls, in Madagascar. Florence has a deep understanding of the complexities of teaching across online platforms, especially to girls who lack strong and reliable internet. Florence makes sure that everyone of her lessons are interactive and engaged – sometimes a new style of learning for our ACG students.
