About Us

We are an online school offering free English Language classes to girls in Afghanistan.

We currently have around 250 girls in education with us and have delivered over 40,000 hours of tuition.

We have over 1,500 girls fully enrolled and waiting for slots to become available. We have a further 50,000 Afghan girls who have contacted us in some way, expressing interested in our programmes.

Our History

The Afghan College for Girls was founded in 2021 by our Mary Lonsdale, our current Chair of Trustees.

Shocked by the fall of Kabul in 2021, and the removal of girls access to education in Afghanistan, Mary launched the Afghan College for Girls to provide free teaching for a class of 30 students.

After advertising the opportunity to join the Afghan College fro Girls on Facebook, over 40,000 girls applied for the 30 places.

We became a UK registered charity in 2023 with the goal of reaching as many girls in Afghanistan as possible.

Meet the Afghan College for Girls Team.

Our teachers are qualified teachers, based in the UK. They have full safeguarding and DBS clearance. In most cases they are actually Afghan refugees. They often taught girls in Afghanistan or taught at the British Council before being forced to flee to the UK. We are proud that we are able to help them continue with their mission.
